Air Intakes

I was looking into air intake systems for my 04' Titan like the one K&N makes. Anyone have a suggestion on which one I should go with?

I don't recall the specific makers name, but at least one sells a Cold Air Intake (CAI) that uses a dry filter element. This eliminates the need for periodic washing and oiling of the element. Some folks have reported the clogging of the Mass Air Flow Sensor when they over-oiled the filter element. This causes a trouble code and for the engine to light up the SES (Service Engine Soon) dash light.

You would still need to clean the element as it is reusable.

When you read this post, look at the links here between your first post and mine. There are at least 8 links for different intakes and filters.

Good luck.

AEM is dry which is the same thing as the Fram Boost. Also Volant now sells a CAI that is a dry filter using a Nano Fiber technology that doesn't need to be cleaned. (so they say) It's the same type of filters used by the Army on the Abrahms. VOLANT

definitely get, as has been suggested, a dry air filter model... K&N and other manufacturers are notorious for over-oiling their brand new filters as you'll see when you hold the bag the filter comes in inside the box. gonna clean my MAF sensor to see if it improves my idle.

I put the Volant Powercore on the Cummins and I'm really impressed with it. I'm going to put one on the Titan too.

According to Volant and Donaldson (Who actually makes the filter) http://www.donaldson.com/en/engine/s...datalibrary/00 1220.pdf there is no need to clean the filter because of it's design but I do use my compressor to blow it out in reverse to the airflow. The cool thing about this filter is it's water proof so those of us who ford streams and rivers don't have to worry.

If you already have a CAI they do just sell the filters and you can find your size here. Volant PowerCore™ Filters

I read that K&N thread on TT but have never had a problem with mine. When I clean in I do not over oil it either. I have one on my quad too and never had a problem. I must be one of the lucky few.
