| I just got a 2006 SE with 8000 miles on it. My wife and I have been wanting one for a while and happened across a deal we couldnt pass up... however... I am in the marine corps and live in southern california so gas is raping us. The wife gave me a 1500 dollar spending spree for upgrades and I am wanting any advice that can be spared. as of right now my motor/ exhaust is stock and I am planning on doing upgrades myself (with a little help, im kind of a rookie.) But anyway, any advice would be great. I just joined the forum due to a buddy suggesting it. He has bought a new vehicle and said that the forum for it offered a ton of help. So I guess Im kind of hoping for the same. Once again, I would be appreciative of anything you all can offer. I am planning on replacing the intake and want an injen, also possibly getting exhaust, tanneau cover, and a performance chip, whatever I can afford and make work. Thanks for the help. |

| I would think an exaust and intake would get you a few MPG's. a bed cover of somesorts will help. not by much but over time it would be woth it. otherwise that is about it. the scanguage tool is very nice. i have one and like it very much here is a linkScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool. check it out i think it is a good investment |

| like Red said, there really isn't anything out there that'll help........exhaust and CAI might help a tad but since you'll love the new roar of the truck so much you'll punch it a few more times and negate that slight, if any, improvement you had......... good luck with the mods though, besides your hunt for gas-saving mods, what else do you plan on using the 1500 for?

| I'd like to comment on the state of gas saving devices. First a question. How many national TV news stories, or ads have you seen touting a company's gas saving device? If you are like me the answer is none. Second question, would you not expect, in this time of rapidly rising gas prices, that if a company had a legitimate gas saving device, that they would be advertising for all they are worth? Why? There are no simple fixes. Period. You are seeing a move to lighter cars, smaller engines, battery powered or hybrid systems. None are simple add on devices. So if you really need to save fuel, don't fool yourself with some advertised "Snake-Oil" device. Buy a smaller car or hybrid. Red

| They did a story here in San Diego on how to save gas... it's called "hypermileage." Basically is driving your car or truck under the speed limit, coasting to a stop and accelerating slowly in order to get every drop of gas more efficiently. Besides that check your tire pressure, get everything out that doesn't need to be in the truck (less weight) and make sure it's tuned up. Stop driving it like you stoled it, I guess. Other than that, you're just not going to find anything that will save gas other than down sizing to a Honda!

| I understand that there are no proven fuel saving mods. I was wanting to improve only a matter of a couple gallons, nothing extreme. I know that intake and exhaust help, but with that I did not know if there was anything else to give me at least an edge up. I have a 2002 cougar as well that gets 32 mpg so it is not a matter of buying a car that gets good mileage. The truth is, I wanted the titan and have wanted it since they were introduced and now i own one. Fuel is not going to break my wallet, and truthfully, I just need a good excuse for my wife so I can get upgrades . Thanks for the help from everyone, I fully intend to get the scanguage as well. If there is anything else then I would appreciate your insight. Thanks again. |

| yeah, no one's knocking ya for wanting to save a few MPGs if possible with any mods but most just add anything to the truck for the sake of performance or looks, MPG savings is kind of a lost cause with this vehicle..........in my opinion of course, others will go to extremes to save the last drops of gas in this big ass V8
