Ha, well... thanks for the advice. I think Im going to stay away from that area for now anyway. I am trying to get some mods done though that will help keep the rising fuel devils off my wallet.

Including the reasons mentioned of problems with the manufacturer, please read the info cited by Squid.

ALL internal combustion engines produce numerous forms of vibration. The vibration damper put on the crankshaft pulley by nearly (maybe all for all I know) manufacturers is to absorb some of the vibrations produced by the combustion process. The bangs of combustion transfer to the mechanical assemblies of the piston, connecting rod and crankshaft. The damper helps smooth those out. If the vibrations get out of hand they could set up damaging standing waves in the drive belt (serpintine belt on modern engines) and these waves could induce vibrations in other components like pumps and alternators. Also this could speed up belt failure.

Perhaps if you were to find a company that took a stock vibration damper and pulley and machined it to achieve the Underdrive Ratio the newer pulleys are seeking, it would be the best of both worlds.
