| is that the 'cut-the-stupid-snorkel' mod? I actually don't think it's ghetto, it's probably a good idea, I don't know why Nissan would design the snorkel the way it is (and maybe someone who is well versed in the subject can chime in on Nissan's behalf), only uses a fraction of the panel filter......... I was this close (place index finger and thumb close together) from doing it ... I figured the DIY mod and replacement filter, such as the Amsoil drop-in (wink, wink) would be an excellent improvement ............ but I bought an used injen instead that I couldn't pass up on.....

| I keep thinking Nissan engineers know what they're doing, too. Although maybe they figure they can just sell more air filters that way. But, then again, as that small area gets full of dirt and resists air flow, the air will take the path of least resistance, (the clean part), so eventually the entire filter might get used. |

| I did it on my 04. It definitely lets more air in. The snorkel is cutting the amount of air intake by almost half I think. Maybe my truck was a freak of nature but with only my ghetto dual 40 series flowmasters and the intake mod with aftermarket air filter similar to SD's (wink wink) my truck ran consistant 14.9 in the 1/4. Although I dont have a previous run with the intake not modified I dont think it could have been achieved without it. |

| I did mine a long time ago. If I had to guess I think that the original design was for noise abatement. Of course I really can't tell a difference in noise cause my exhaust is loud enough to drown anything like that out. I can say the mod does work though, especially if you install a good flowing aftermarket filter. Just do it man!

| did it to my titan, looks like crap tho; tried to clean it up with spray paint, but made it look crappy (I'll get around to cleaning it up even more one day)... ![]() this is how you're supposed to do it (oh, and this is a before picture)....
