I read some articles about "Testing" when the ECO-3 was so prominently in the Titan news. In order to obtain really good data, requires three sets of test.

First do a base run with your Titan, no changes to the truck.
Second, Do the mod, and make the same tests.
Third, replace the original intake and rerun the tests.

Next examine how the baseline results compare to the modified run and then to the rerun of the original intake.

The reason for this is to determine if any improvements over baseline are because of the modification or from computer adjustments or engine break-in.

If the results of the moded run and rerun are the same, it means the mod wasn't the cause of the improvements, rather because of the engine was adjusted by the computer or engine break-in.

If the rerun results in a return to baseline results then that is proof that the modification did in fact provide an improvement.

Of course, all runs, except for equipment, need to be as identical as possible.

I, being a student of tinkering, and owning a fairly new vehicle had to give the mod a try.
I did like the results, better sound and with the K&N drop-in filter I was happy.
After a month or so I went to the fram Boost and really like the improvement.
I have decided to wait for the new Volant CAI that is due this fall. That is most likely the only way I'm going to change from the Fram Boost.
If you do not want to change to an aftermarket CAI, I do recommend the stock air box mod. Just please do it right. I've seen some pretty ugly attempts at this mod.

I dont know about your guys Titan's But Most Gas engines have some kind air intake Temperature sensor (ait). usually after the MAF sensor, It measures the temperature of the air and sends that signal to the computer it uses the MAF signal which is how much air is coming thru and the the AIT which is the temp and determins the amount of fuel based on that.

That is just how some of my other engines worked. not exactly sure the Titan works but im sure it has to be similar. On my gassers i would remove the AIT and relocate it where it would get colder air and trick the engine into adding a little more fuel. or you could put it somewhere warmer and get it to add less fuel.
