Okay, the instructions were right on except for step (N.) that wanted me to unclip the fender liner so I could get the rivets pinched to disconnect the wiring harness so it could be relocated to the side of the heat shield. (The heat shield is mounted using the holes that use to secure the wire harness. ) I got mine disconnected from the engine bay. If you don't want to mess with it just take the manual down to Nissan or a parts place and buy three of these straps and just cut the old ones off and be done with it. While your out you can also buy two # 10 hose clamps for the new supplied breather hose that fits into the barbed fitting used to splice into the old hose. (I happen to have a slew of them.)
These are the tools I used for the install.
Phillips Screwdriver to remove the MAF. (Still don't see how people put them in back wards.)
Straight Slot Screwdriver for the hose clamps.
!/4 drive ratchet.
2 extensions (because I don't like to stretch)
Needle Nose pliers/pliers (For pinching the OEM hose clamps)
8mm Socket
10mm Socket
13MM Socket
5/16 Wrench (Because I couldn't find my 8mm wrench.)
10MM wrench or crowfoot (For removing the bottom bolt of the old airbox.)
Tin Snips (For trimming the bulb seal that goes on top of the heat shield.)
The hardest part of the whole install was getting the bottom electrical connector disconnected on the windshield washer bottle. (Step I.)
Note (Skyhammer and 40 say that removal of the washer fluid bottle is not necessary in order to reach the bottom bolt on the air box so check first.)
As I was installing this I had an idea so i stole the old ladies Dawn and put a bead around the edge of the heat shield and closed the lid.
And this is the pattern that was imprinted on the underside of the hood. With a little shimming and some insulating around the heat shield where the tube goes through I should be able to seal the box off from the engine compartment thus sending even cooler air to the engine.
The thing does give more throttle response and sounds pretty wicked when you get on it but at idle and normal driving it sounds no louder than it did with the AirHog and the stock Air box. I hear no whine, whistle, or sucking until I romp on her and then she wakes up.
I didn't have to remove my front tire to install this and also I've heard from some that rather than remove the windshield washer bottle to get to the bottom bolt on the stock air box they just pulled up on it to remove it.
