How Much Dirt Does Your Air Filter Stop? (Video)

This a real cool video of the True Flow Air Filter.

Check out this video and you'll get an idea of what my mind is seeing and what I'm trying to understand.(Disclaimer: this is not a advertisement for the filter in the video.)

Boot found the P/N for the filter.

True Flow - Air Filter: 2004 Nissan Pathfinder Armada 5.6L, 2004 Nissan Titan 5.6L; foam

I know that ya'll are old enough to have had at least one old clapped out hot rod that never once had the pleasure of gulping filtered air ..... and what was the result? nothing remarkable ...... filtered air is over rated.....minute cylinder wall scratching, a little extra grit in the oil .... no biggie.

LOL. I was thinking of my cabin air filter as well. After watching the video, I understand how the true air filter works.

Breathe through your nose. That is the human body's natural air filter. Of course its nice if it is pre-filtered air as that makes it easier on the nose.

I wonder how much the proper air filter increases the longevity on modern engines. Its true old cars and engines had much less efficient filters. Then too they had looser tolerances and burned a lot more oil than we do now. To me its hard to imagine the dust that enters the combustion chamber gets to hang around more than one cycle. I don't know how forceful the combustion gasses are, but I'd expect them to force just about any small particulates out the exhaust port.
