OEM Battery dead. Hopefully that's all.

Well I have run into this situation tonight. It's really weird though. If my battery was totally dead, wouldn't my door locks, key in ignition with door open chime, key less entry, windshield wipers and other misc electrical components work? I would think that they wouldn't? But they do. I think the Titan is possessed. But the power surges only come in spells. I can open the door and the dome and map lights come on. I stick the key in the ignition, turn to accessory and then try to crank, and it's like someone disconnected the hot side of the battery and I get this awful clicking noise coming from around the area of the dash speaker on the drivers side. Guess I'll be dumping some money on a new battery tomorrow in hopes this will solve my situation. Anyone in agreement that it's the battery and not the IPDM. Been having some of the same symptoms of the IPDM failure. Cranking, choking, and dying. At least it hasn't died going down the highway.

It's the battery..My OEM battery gave me no indications it was going. I ran errands then parked for about 3hrs and decided to go get milk.......and a new battery.

You bet, Permatex makes a Dielectric Grease that you can get that will stop that from happening. It's also good for any kind of fitting that gets wet like on a boat trailer etc. I used it when I lived in Florida on most of my light connections because of the salt air................good stuff!

I can't figure for the life of me how in the heck you made it this long on that battery. Mine gave up the ghost almost to the date, two years after I bought my 04.

For some reason, I've always had good luck with batteries, I had a 97 Ford F-150 prior to the Titan, and I racked up 169k miles on the OEM battery. I sold it to my uncle in 04. 7 years out of an OEM battery... Not too bad. Was going to go with the Optima red top in the Titan, but really didn't want to spend $189.98 on a battery. So I went with an Oreilly Super Start Extreme Conditions battery for $90. Gonna install tomorrow and hopefully be back in my Titan. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy driving the father-in-law's CC 4WD Titan, but my seat fits my arse better.

Well got the battery put in this morning. Had to make a run to the parts store and pick up a new + terminal. found some terminal sealer. Couldn't find the Permatex, so I went with all they had it was CRC Battery Terminal Protectant. It did a good job on coating the terminals, Hopefully I won't have an Corrosion Cupcake on the positive side now. Titan's cranking in seconds now. Hopefully that battery will hold in there until for awhile. Thanks to all for the input.
