Bad Design

Today I spent an hour crawling in my front wheel wells replacing all four headlight bulbs. I have to call foul on Nissan for making a design that makes such a simple task a PIA. There really should be an easier procedure for common items. Reminds me of the days Ford had you undoing an engine mount to get at the back spark plug.

Recent sales allowed me to afford buying the Silverstar Ultras. The normal price of $50 a pair was too high. Now they are available for 1/2 that via rebates, etc.

Now I just need to have some darkness to see if the cost is worth it.

I hate changing the light bulbs on the titan. I had the silverstar Ultras for awhile then one burned out. I think it made the people on the road to work happy because they are nice and bright.

I know your pain Red.... I was saying all kinds of things to my Titan when I was changing out the 9005/and 9006 bulbs.

An hour? sheesh... I guess you need some more practice.

All I ever do is remove the screws on the fender liner, carefully bend it back... and it's easy.

Trust me Steves, more practice is something I don't want. I used that method and once again proved I'm no longer thin, no longer flexible, and no longer young. I don't bend well and find it equally difficult to reach into those narrow spaces.

Sometimes it also helps to turn the steering wheel "in" on the side you're working on to get the wheel out the way.

At least it's easier than my last car 2000 Grand Prix. You had to remove the air box, battery, engine compartment braces, and a pile of other stuff to get to the back of the head lights.

That is alot of crap to move just for a bulb change. I have to change the oil filter on the maxima by either removing the left wheel or turning the wheels to the right. Kind of a pain but alot easier than the titan when I have the skid plate installed.

Try changing the oil filter on a frontier with the four cylinder. It's on the right side of the engine, half way up, blind and sideways so you leak oil everywhere.

I'll see that, and raise you a the Honda Civic... with no ground clearance even up on jackstands there was barely enough room for me to get underneath the car.

And of course, the filter was up on the back side of the motor somewhere.

exactly how my wife's stupid tacoma is but on the left side. you've got to work from the wheel well and from underneath. from underneath you take the wrench and dislodge the filter from its tight seal, then stop. then crawl out from underneath to get thru to wheelwell just to unscrew the filter to let the oil out. if you didn't do that, hot oil would pour all over you. stupid design by toyota... just another dumb design from a company that designs ugly full size trucks.
