Question Help!! No Running Lights

We had decided to go this weekend and get a new mattress set and our friendly highway patrolman decided to let me know that my running lights, turn signal, and brake lights were not working on my 12ft. trailer. He let me get by with a warning. The closer that I got to home, I realized that my running lights were not working on the truck. I was thinking that maybe the trailer had a short in the wiring somewhere and it may have grounded blowing a fuse in the fuse block. I checked around in the owners manual and on the fuse block door, but it's pretty vague. I was wondering if someone could steer me in the direction of where this fuse would be located. I would hate for my "warning" to turn into a ticket. Keep in mind I do have brake lights, and turn signals both left and right on the truck. I dunno, I'm puzzled. I've never been an electrical wiring genius when it comes to vehicles.

A couple of questions. Do you have a brake controller wired up?
Do you have the Big Tow and its socket for trailer lights?
Are the relays for trailering connected?

Brake Controller = No
Big Tow = No, just a four flat. That's what all my trailers have on them. Added this item on when I bought the aftermarket hitch about 2 or 3 years ago.
Relays = Yes, Added these as well with the aftermarket hitch & 4 flat connector.

Keep in mind folks, this is on the truck, not the trailer.

If you are this confused, imagine how confused we are. So now you have brake and turn signals, but no running lights on the truck.

I suggest you check the connections of the flat four connector to the wires on your truck. Then check the relays and fuses. Finally check the trailer for shorts or poor grounds.

Yes. I'm not worried about the trailer. Just trying to figure out why my lights on the truck aren't working.

I figured that someone would be confused. I was just thinking that maybe the short in the trailer may have blown a fuse on my trucks running lights. I'm just wondering why I don't have running lights on my truck yet I still have turn signals and brake lights on my truck. Geeze if it's gonna be this confusing never mind.

I think it's because the two systems are seperate, but controled by the same set of controls. The relay powers up the part for the trailer lights.

Since you still have running lights/signals on the trailer, I would think it's a blown fuse in the truck.

I think I would start by pulling/checking all the fuses from the fuse panel.

After that, pop out the towing relays and see what happens. Maybe one of the relays is bad/shorted causing a problem in the system?
