A few years ago I tried this type of setup with Tivo (Tivo to Tivo) using a router and I was very disappointed so I decided to wait a while to try it again.
Today I do use my Xbox 360 online wireless with a wrt350n and I also view pics from my laptop and Wow!! Things sure have changed.
