Exclamation TTXE becomes TTEX...

Now don't take this personally....

As you all know my Titan racked up miles at a rapid rate (> 93K miles after ~ 38 months of ownership). So, I have been thinking about its replacement over the past 2-3 months. After much careful thought and deliberation I have purchased one of the new Tundras. I loved the Titan and the Endurance V8 over those 93K miles but, it was simply time for something new (and different). I have enjoyed meeting and making many new friends on the various Titan forums and look forward to continuing those friendships even though I am no longer a Titan owner.

Factors

As far as pickups go – I really prefer the proportions of an extended cab setup (vs. a 4 full size door design). I like the idea of being able to carry my entire family and still have a 6.5 foot box on a truck that will still fit in my garage. After living with the King Cab for 3+ years with the suicide doors and the inherent problems with that type of design – Toyota’s Double Cab design with the pillars and regular opening doors really appeals to me. My kids are able to get in and out without me having to unbuckle and open the door for them - makes pickup and dropoff at school MUCH easier. That back seat in the Tundra Double Cab offers some pretty good leg room too - I am 6' tall and sit with the driver's seat all the way back and I can get in the back seat of the DC and my knees are not even touching the seat back!

Much has been said about the pricing of the Tundra vs. the Titan. In my particular situation the pricing is about the same – admittedly I am going with Toyota’s “little” V8 and will be losing 0.9 liters of displacement and approx. 30 ponies.

As far as styling is concerned – completely subjective according to who you are talking to. There are aspects of the Tundra design which I do not understand (i.e., the black piece of plastic inset into the top of the grill) or particularly agree with (I don’t like the way the window in the back doors has that little “kick-up” in it).

Well, I still look forward to talking trucks with you guys and I will continue to offer my services as Commish for the football and NASCAR leagues.
